Quests and beta
« on: February 24, 2011, 07:58:56 pm »

Games been pissing me off a lot, but it has a lot of potential, and fallout online has been a childhood fantasy of mine.

maybe this has been discussed, I looked at a few dev blogs and didn't find anything on it.
but the game needs A LOT more quests, a lot more content.  So far in NCR I did several noob quests, and now im stuck with go kill the gang members mission which I'm no where near being able to do, not without a few levels, and a few thousand dollars worth of armor, guns, and allies, so wtf am I supposed to do in the meantime?
shovel brahmin shit, and mine ore for 12 hours straight ?

it at the very least needs some persistent world missions, ie caravan runs, convince ___ to ____, go fight in fight club ( which maybe you can do in reno, I dunno) protect brahmin from rats, etc etc.
because like I said, you do the several noob missions, the next mission on the list your not even remotely prepared for and your stuck doing what? nothing.

I realize the devs arent making jack-@#$$@ off of the game, but if you want to see me click the donation button, it has a long way to go.

I can level up to level 5 without fighting once, without dying and without ever touching a shovel with brahmin shit.

Just saying.

You realize nothing.

Donations are 100% voluntary and nothing else. All money that is donated is used to keep the server running. The devs get nothing out of it, it's all for the players. We just have the work to do and the flames and insults to earn.

More content&quests... You should post it as a suggestion.

check this page:

There's a lot of quests, but you'll have to move around to do them.  Doing the train station quests early may be beneficial, so you can travel with ease to other places to do other quests.

erm. how long does that take you?  0.0
so what do you do then if not mining, just go around healing people, disassembling items, and crafting items, picking flowers ?

Yeah, but faster will be get only 2nd level and then go to molerats! Of couse strange builds with gambling and speech tagged won't do that, or pure docs, but if your character has any combat skill, quests aren't worth time you spend on them. Ok, if you're 1 ST build, you may make some more quests for 3rd level if you don't have buffout or simply don't want to waste it.

and now im stuck with go kill the gang members mission
Go there, throw a grenade into thier boss, die. You'll respawn, go there again, throw another grenade into boos, he is dead, and you too. You'll respawn, boss is dead - mission completed! Or you may repeat it with everyone there.
You may also use smg poink blank burst or any other alternative. Location will be visible for you, so if you lose some items there, you'll be back and pick it up again, also they won't be agressive to you when you return. This mission can be completed on 1st level.

Or you do it in a small group, as it is a group quest and not a loner quest. Seriously, this is an mmo, where is the common sense? It's even said in the dialog that you will need more people than yourself.

A rewarding Quest is the delivery Quest in New Reno from lil Jesus Mordino. Just bring a Briefcase to Metzger in Den.

But this Quest sucks because of Player Killers. Actually i was killed by a sneaking PK who has waited till i got the Briefcase and then kill me from behind. My Suggestion to the Devs is that Jesus gives you a second Chance and then only 1000 XP instead of 1500 XP, and maybe a third Chance and only 500 XP.

I know, I made this quest myself with help of friend, who blocked path in tent ^_^ They simply stood and did nothing and I was shooting them with laser pistol, 1 ST +buffout and crappy EW% because of low lvl.

But, if you're really loner and don't trust people, that's the only way to complete on low lvl, suicidal bursts and grenades.

Or you get some skill points in speech. Or you don't do the quest at all, because you aren't strong enough (yet). It's not a low level quest after all (target is ~lvl 5).

But you can! You simply can complete it on 1st level and get 1k XP = 2nd lvl instantly, you only need 2 grenades or an smg with with some bullets or other bursting weapon.

Edit: Make quest reqs like any combat skill > 100% OR speech > X% OR you have some followers when taking quest, if you don't want see this.

so I understand  there is going to be a wipe soon which means patch?
and there was a dialog, and map contest
so im thinking lots of new things?

because i like the concept of this game there really just isnt that much to do.  apparently there are 3 modoc quests, 1 mini lame quest, 1 quest that requires 7 charisma, and  another repeatable quest you get a pathetic 150 caps for.

I go all the way to Modoc fron NCR to get some hides so I can make a tent, I leave most of my money in the NCR bank so I don't get killed and lose it all, because I had never been that far north and didnt know what I was in for, I make it to Modoc, sure enough there are plenty of brahmin hides for sale, but there is nothing to do to make some caps besides the underpaid jerky delivery runs.

So in short, after wipe can we expect a lot more things to do, a lot more quests, etc ,especially for noobs?
I couldnt find info on this anywhere.

Ofcourse there will be new quests added, but you have to understand that stuff like this takes a while. There'll be many moons 'arising before we have a game fully covered with quests, be them bigger or smaller.
