what is the meaning of "Explorer" perk?

<< < (2/5) > >>

Izual:
If possible, it could be the possibility to encounter rare random encounter locations, aka new small maps made by mappers. It would not bring you much profit (such as special items or treasure), but it would bring you fun (encountering locations you hardly ever met). With also the current advantage of this perk maintained (2 squares range instead of 1 in worldmap).

That's Pathfinder.  Right now Explorer does nothing.

And a good use for Explorer would be for it to increase travel speed maybe, but not increase the OD check for encounters.

Actually that's scout, not pathfinder

Bonus: More chance to find Broc Flower/junk whatever in a encounter.

Issues: Will provide crafter alts with this "must have" perk.

Explorer perk v2:
Bonus: More chance to find caves/rare items in random encounters (like condom, rubber boots whatever). You should also be able to find such items also in the desert map with the small house.

Well.. those not sound bad suggestions for Explorer perk :)

Alright, my bad. But I'm maintaining my idea:

I do prefer it more than Harald's idea (more stuff found in encounters) for two reasons. Firstly, it is not exploitable, not farmable, no "explorer-alts". Secondly, Explorer perk has always been some non-profitable bonus perk, for people that didn't care about caps and cared more about having a fun gaming experience. That's why I think it would fit, and be great, if with this perk you encountered unusual (rather empty) locations.
