Professions still need S.p.e.c.i.a.l requirements?

I ask this because i have a sg crafter that got the last lvl on Sg profession just having the Skill % requirement, and with lower "special" than the requirement that says on wiki.

My question is simple, and i would appreciate any fast answer: Does the requirement on wiki still dated? if not how works requirements of profession right now?

P.s: I searched on the forum about a dated answer for this but didnt find.

Can you use drugs to bump stats for professions?

Probably too gamey to hope for. I just made a SGB char with 4 str. Tagged repair, but I guess that was stupid since I won't be able to get gunsmith 3 with that stat.  :-[
