Encounter Distance

(1/2) > >>

Mitch West:
Kinda bugs me a little bit when you have a random encounter and then you spawn right in the center of the npc's. I know the whole 2 second thing before the battle starts, But still lets say your traveling and you see some strangers, creatures, armored men in the distance. Are you going to go run over there and get right in center of them to have a cup of tea? I don't think so. Just something that I would like to see is maybe when you get spawned into the encounter have it midway between the center of the map and the exit grid. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate this being implemented.

This could be implemented, but not happen all the time. I mean, those raiders, guards, wolves, whatever, could have just ambushed you.

I remember there was this suggestion that must be buried deep in the Suggestions part (don't have much time to search it right now), about some kind of skill check to determine your party members' position as well as the NPCs/players' you encounter. Seemed to make some sense.

Mitch West:
I agree with both replies, Ambushes are totally understandable and I think skills and all of that should play a part in it too. This would really help all of us out in my opinion.

Badger:
I think perception does play a role right now. I would like it to play more of a role, so you even if you get in an encounter the NPCs won't have necessarily noticed you/turned hostile.

More variation in where you appear on the map would be good, too. Sometimes in the middle, sometimes in a corner. Is that technically possible without screwing up encounters?

cannotspace:
maybe making a "versus" on person who is inside the encounter's outdoorsman against the person entering outdoorsman and perception
