Caravan encounters suggestion.
« on: January 22, 2011, 04:21:25 pm »

Maybe there could be new encounter called "Brahmin caravan" that got 1-2 average merchants and 3-5 scarred guards (Depends you location what guards they got)

Locations and weapons for guards
Klamath = Spear guys, 10mm pistols
Den = Sawed-off shotguns, .44 revolvers
Modoc = Shotguns, 9mm mauser
Gecko = Crazies, Hunting rifles, Shotguns
VC = Assault rifles, Hunting rifles
BH = Miniguns, LSW
NCR = LSW, FN FAL, Hunting rifles
Junktown = 10mm SMGs, Hunting rifles, 9mm mausers
HUB = Assault rifles
Boneyard = 10mm SMGs
SF = Laser rifles, Needler pistols, Assault rifles
Redding = Assault rifles, Hunting rifles, 10mm pistols

And also you could search caravan carts and sometimes found items (Like you can try search Fuel cell controller from old cars)
Items like: Caps, Weapons, Armors (Leather jackets random damaged %) and Drugs.

Edit: Please comment :)

More farming caravans, yay!

But trading with the caravans would be great. Maybe not the guns, ammo and clothing but some resources like:

Electronic Parts for SF Caravan
Chemical Components for Vault City Caravan
Uranium Ore  for Broken Hills Caravan
Jet for New Reno Caravan
Slaves (slave seller?) for Den Slaver's Guild
(Golden) Gecko Pelts for Klamath Trappers
HQ Ore  for Redding Caravan
HQ Minerals for Gecko Caravan
Weapon Upgrades - NCR Caravan

This had been discussed in another thread; the solution I like the best is that you just make the merchants have supplies to sell, but they are un-lootable, just like traders in towns.

Another suggestion related to caravan encounters.

My character is a real dumbass and founds him self always in trouble... (outdoorsman skill 32). I can not travel even short distances, like 3 grids, without bumping into a death trap kind of random encounter. So many times it takes my character about 30 minutes to reach NCR from the regeneration place, as the character always dies and he is teleported back to the startup point.

What I would really want from random encounter caravans is the possibility to join them until they reach their destination. For example if someone meets a caravan which is traveling from Broken Hills to San Fransisco, and the player's karma with Broken Hills traders or whatever they are called is high enough, there would be a dialog which allows the player to travel with the caravan to it's destination... it would be a life saver for such idiots, like my character.

Like said in another thread, it's unlikely we will adjust caravans right now. It's more likely that we will change the system completely to some more "player-interactive" thing and caravans that really travel from location to location, which aren't created out of trashmobs.
