Fast Shot trait
« on: February 06, 2011, 12:03:24 pm »

-1 AP for aiming shooting, -25 to critical hit table with ranged weapons.
Code: [Select]
<= 20  : effect 1
21-45  : effect 2
46-70  : effect 3
71-90  : effect 4
91-100 : effect 5
> 100  : effect 6
If FOnline uses the same effect rolls, then this trait will make 1-3 effects possible +5% of effect 4. In FOnline this is enough to drop weapons or to knock down I think and 5% to cripple/knock out/blind probably.
Fast Shot+Better Critical perk will make 1d100 -5 rolls so from -4 to 95, so you'll have 1-4 effects +5% of effect 5 possible.
It'll good for gunslingers, because instead of boring torso shooting they will shoot atleast hands with the same speed as torso or head/eyes with only +1 AP, thier shots will be less lethal than shots of normal snipers, but... this is thier choice:
+faster shooting
-damage and effect
May be balance required and penalty to critical hit table adjusted.
This trait will allow character to shoot in the eyes twice with rifles with only 10 AP (with BRoF), but shots will be weaker.
This trait will allow character to shoot in the hand with pistol 4 times in a row with 12 AP (with BRoF), but shots will be less crippling, Better Critical perk will make crippling possible.
This trait will allow use sniper rifle twice in a row with 12 AP aiming head and eyes, but sacrificing critical shot power.
No really, current gunslingers are boring and pathetic, shooting torso with pistol with single shots? -_-

Traits must always have a drawback. If you're a big gunner or smg burster Fast shot isn't a drawback at all since they don't plan to snipe in first place.
EDIT: sorry for misunderstanding, didn't internalize the first post well enough.

If you're big gunner or smg burster, yes, you won't have a drawback, but... you also won't have a bonus... so what a problem?
May be my english isn't good or you misunderstood, I'll make an example:

Without traits, perk:
10mm pistol requires 4 AP to shoot torso, 5 AP to shoot hand/leg, 6 AP to shoot head/eye/groin.
With current Fast shot:
10mm pistol requires 3 AP to shoot torso, aiming shots are impossible.
It doesn't affect any weapon that can't aim.
My suggestion:
10mm pistol requires 4 AP to shoot torso, the same 4 AP to shoot hand/leg, 5 AP to shoot head/eye/groin, but you suffer -25 to critical hit table.
It doesn't affect any weapon that can't aim, prolly my 1st line in 1st post can be changed from:
-1 AP for aiming shooting, -25 to critical hit table with ranged weapons.
to
-1 AP for aiming shooting, -25 to critical hit table with ranged weapons that can do aimed shots.
So critical bursters who took Fast Shot trait won't suffer from drawback only of -20 to critical hit table incase of critical burst.

this will imba the game even more, think of Snipers based on DMG shooting from far distance with -1AP and still be able to do aimed shots

Ok now it starts to make more sense. However for example arm and leg cripples seem to be at the top of the crit table so with this perk the worse and pretty much pointless limb crits would occur more often. But honestly hard to say what exactly would happen.

Fast shot will eventually open up the untargetted-single-shot-DPS build - its mostly the animation speeds which ruin this now. Don't really think a bit faster, but worse effect sniper has the same potential.
