Entering the hub is a crime? Bug/Glitch?

Yeah, well, not getting very far here at all...
Did some shit shovelling and crate lifting (can't repeat this quest for 13 hours? Really? Not even for a lesser reward?), put the money in the bank, traded the shovel for a knife, tried finding some resources (Don't have enough first aid to make weak healing powder...)Haven't found much, the stuff I DID find I couldn't sell because the barter menu doesn't show up. Talk menu works fine, barter window doesn't. Tried both through dialog and direct bartering, didn't work.
Also, I believe I might have encountered a problem...In order to get flint (where IS that, anyway?) to make a primitive tool, I need to mine it...with a primitive tool? I can't use a sledge because my strength is 4...So now what? I wanted to gather resources but this game sure stacks the difficulty against you.

flint can be found on the ground within maps you enter on the worldmap
to fix the barter problem close both the game and launcher, then open the game up again. typically happens when you have things to trade and the timer runs out.

Log out, Restart the client, log back in.
(don't forget your char remains for 2 mins after you log out)

Nope. Flint can be found just about anywhere.

Wrong. You can use it as a weapon,but with reduced accuracy.
You can, however, mine just like as if you had 4 strength. it doesn't affect that.

I'm pretty sure the "no infuence for actual mining" isn't mentioned anywhere...Thanks for telling me though. Also, I've looked around quite a bit and haven't found any flint yet...I keep trying. I find that the NCR is a better place to start, actually.

Try the square below NCR. they look like little rocks.
