Ghost perk
« on: November 18, 2010, 03:41:08 am »

can anyone explain how this perk really works?

i know the description is pretty self explanatory but what consitutes as shadows?

also i read somewhere there was no shadows per se and that the perk gives always +30 sneak skill, i maybe wrong, anyway is it true?

last question: how many skill do you need in sneak? and is 250 plus ghost perk enough?

ty in advance

Everywhere currently counts as shadows, so it is always a +30 skill.

Skill you need would depend on the Perception of the enemy. See the formula and skill reduction effects on the wiki page: http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Sneak

i apreciate your feedack

i have a question:

i made the formula with the average player pe (6)

20+ 6*3 - 300 (recomended) /6 = -37

now.. what does -37 means?

it means your enemy would be able to see you from "-37" hexes, but you can always be seen from 3 hexes.
try to calculate what is the maximum skill needed for the most difficult situation. I think its about 230 sneak.
more then that number would be a waste.

  Penalties

    * Weight: -1% per 1 kg of the total weight of items you carry.

i took this from wiki

this is more off an english doubt, does this mean u get -1% of sneak per kilo?

Wtf are you talking about lol?
Having more sneak is always better...
Even 300 + ghost sucks now when devs nerfed sneak drastically and Stealth Boy wasn't implemented correctly or not implemented at all

   * Front: -135%.
    * Front-sides: -95%.
    * Back-sides: -55%.
    * Back: -15%.
^ Fail... There is even penalty on back? What the fuck?

Where did you learn maths? I calculated -12.
Also, you forgot about bonuses and penalties:
20+6*3-(300+bonus-penalty)/6 =
in example, for front, no ghost perk, no occluders, no stealth boy, no weight, no armor, no motion sensor for your enemy:
 38-(300-135)/6 = 38-27,5 = 10,5
So you are going to be seen from 10 or 11 hex(probably 11) by your enemy.

I even checked on my epic Casio calculator with natural display and that's it.

And let's do it step by step:
20 + 6 * 3 - 300 / 6
6*3 = 18
300/6 = 50
20 + 18 - 50 = 38 - 50 = -12

Now tell me, who's doing the math wrong?

BTW. Tell me also, what does 2 + 2 * 2 equal?

should the formula be only 20 + 6 * 3 - 300 / 6? at leats thats what it is on wiki

God, help me...

What's on wiki?
Quote
20 + opponent's Perception * 3 - previously calculated skill / 6

PREVIOUSLY CALCULATED SKILL. And it was explained on wiki how to calculate it:
Quote
Bonuses

    * Ghost perk: +30% (can increase skill above 300%).
    * Occluders: Standing behind scenery objects like barrels, tables (up to 2 hexes from them) gives you +50% bonus.
    * Having active Stealth Boy in one of active slots gives +60% to the Sneak skill.

Penalties

    * Weight: -1% per 1 kg of the total weight of items you carry.
    * Armor:
          o Leather Armor and Leather Armor Mark II: -25%
          o All metal armors and combat armors: -50%
          o Powered armors (PA, APA, etc.): Sneak is disabled.

Against an opponent

    * Direction - direction of the opponent has big impact, basically, the area around opponent is divided into four parts, and each part modifies your sneak skill value as follows:
          o Front: -135%.
          o Front-sides: -95%.
          o Back-sides: -55%.
          o Back: -15%.
    * If your opponent has active motion sensor in an active slot, he will have +2 Perception for the purpose of sneak detection (not capped at 10).
Are we looking at the same wikis?

I even checked on my epic Casio calculator with natural display and that's it.

And let's do it step by step:
20 + 6 * 3 - 300 / 6
6*3 = 18
300/6 = 50
20 + 18 - 50 = 38 - 50 = -12

Now tell me, who's doing the math wrong?

BTW. Tell me also, what does 2 + 2 * 2 equal?

Let's say I carry 20kg of items 300-20=280

and i'll be going from back sides 280-55= 225

225/6 =37,5 (i dont know if it rounds down or up, so I'll round down)
20+18-37=1

So what does this mean? What does it mean when it's a negative number, are the -12  like 38(range of sight)-12?

EDIT:

After all bonuses and penalties have been applied, the final formula, which determines the maximum distance between the observer and the (sneaked) observed at which the latter is visible is:"

So basically (if what someone said about 3 hexes being the max achievable) unless the result of that formula is 3 (or higher) the distance to see the person will be the 3 hexes?
