When you kill critter, it iterates over all npc groups, check the status and modifier between those groups and group of killed critter, and if the status is "enemy", it adds you small bonus for reputation within that group (1 point per 100 points of the modifier between those groups. Max 20, Min 1). It doesn't raise your reputation above 0.

One note - as for now "Raiders" encounters are just "mob" encounters. So they are not assigned to any faction, they're attacking everyone regardless the faction/reputation (just like animals). So killing raiders won't feed your reputations. It's not definitive, I'm just pointing it's how those raiders are assigned now.

So in practice for example if I wanna have better karma with mutants (Unity or BH Mutants), what I'm supposed to kill? Animals doesn't count, right?
