Tent Construction

Hey guys, I have a problem. Despite having exactly 10 Brahmin hides in my inventory, when I try to build my tent, the game tells me I don't have enough hides.

Can anyone help me out here?

Are you, by chance, dropping the brahmin hides on the ground? Don't do that.

Have the 10 brahmin hides in your inventory, hold-left-click them and go to your skill-list (smiling face) and use Science on them, all from inventory.

I had been dropping them on the ground, but I can't seem to have both my inventory and skill list open at the same time. What am I missing? D:
