Crimson Caravan

So I went to the Crimson Caravan building and they gave me a job telling me that they were ready to leave today (and I told them that I would take the job TODAY).

So they tell me to go to the Hub entrance and talk to the caravan leader which I do but when I get there the caravan leader tells me there is no work.

Is this a bug?
Is it possible to work on the Caravan?
Have I somehow screwed the pooch?

Joining caravans is not possible at the moment, the dialogue is obsolete unfortunately. ;)
