Say goodbye to Awareness

(1/8) > >>

Eternauta:
Nobody should have awareness. We shouldn´t be able to see other people's HPs.

We should ALL and ALWAYS be able to see these details:
-General condition (Unhurt, Almost dead, etc.)
-Crippled limbs and which one.
-Which KIND of weapon they are using (shotgun, rifle, spear, pistol, SMG, mingun, spear, knife) but not exactly which one unless we have 100+ skill points in the combat skill the actual weapon belongs to.
-Which kind of armor (jacket, leather, metal, combat) but not exactly which one (unless we have 100+ Repair? cause Repair is realted to the Armorer profession).

EDIT: may someone please tell me why the post won't show everything I had typed? I see no characters limit, and I had typed much longer suggestions.

Wichura:
Negative. Enough limits, nerfing, deleting, removing, disabling, whatever.

Enough limits? like what, limited Action Points?

Without Awareness you do not know exactly how powerful a player you run across is. You only know he is Unhurt but you can't be sure if he has 40, 100 or 220 hit points. You can only guess by the armor they are wearing and/or weapons they are wielding.

Right now it's just "well look here, that guy wears Metal Armor mk II but only has 70 hp, I'm gonna rape him". Without the ability to see his hp this kind of behaviour would not be so common. A guy in Metal Armor mk II could be a powerful one or maybe just a low level dude who had some caps and bought some armor to look scary. And a bluesuit could be a total noob or a 21 level motherfucker in disguise, hiding a FN FAL in his other item slot.

Eternauta:
I knew I had read something like this before:

--- Quote ---I suggest we scrap awareness, but keep the mouse hover-over status Awareness provides - Almost Dead, Wounded, etc.

A world without Awareness would be a much more interesting one. You'd have to actually make a tactical decision when you encountered a stranger in the desert - do I feel confident enough I can take this guy? It keeps you on your toes. You don't know if that punk in a leather jacket has 40hp and a sawnoff or 180hp and a sniper rifle. And he doesn't know the same about you. The mystery makes it feel that little bit more real.

To me, that's a good thing.
