Predefined faction names make as much sense as predefined nicknames for players. Hey, let's make a list of nicks for players because someone might call himself for example a Ninja. That's sooooooo not wastelandish!

Hmm, for first seconds it's good, but if you think longer, then doesn't sounds good. Do you want to see that name of gang "xxXXxx AjĆ!!XD" or "SUPERULTRAOMEGA WARRIORS OF ULTRASHADOW". Hmm but for THAT name of faction "Khan's" it's will be good enough for me.

Ofcourse it gives freedom to the players. But as already pointed out many times, we will rather see "The Penetrating Penisses", the "Elite Pwnz0rs" etc.

But we already see that in players' names, and you see players' name much more often than gangs'.
So, let's really make a list of player names, and you should pick one of them when creating a character? And if there're no empty nicknames, then you should to wait, or make it random generator of names when creating a character, so you'll see a name of your character only when you'll have first log in for him. There's a connection already, player name or gang name, there's no difference, both seen by everyone.
You can create a character with name PenetratingPenis or ElitePwnz0r so what?
