Duels in "Guarded Towns" instead of random killing.
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:47:41 am »

Hello.

I just came up with an idea. Maybe I played Red Dead Redemption too much, but I think I have point.
In "guarded" towns, the whole concept should be, that you are "safe" but not so... Even if this is a guarded town, there are wholes which players make in the AI to make some " noobz pwning". So, maybe disable "random shootin'" or make a permanent -karma/reputatuin for this town, make it much rather for this one:

(I know this sounds harsh, but try to listen to me:)

Player A comes to (let's say the Hub)
Player B is a civilian there.
Player A recognizes player B, because he did some shit back then in Hubs outskirt...
Player A wants revenge. Now there is coming following:

Now, with enough "negative karma" or so, players should be able to force - thousands of karmapoints players into :

(only clickable for 5 times a day or so, to not spam this message to everyone...)

Both of the players critters should then automatically go to a random point of the map with enough hexes in distance, and should be able to shoot themselves without any actions of the guards (that's the whole point). But, as said, ONLY if both players ticked "Sure Thing"...

This Action could be made via a new button (I don't know how hard it is to add new buttons to the right click menue tho')

I know, the idea is far from finished, but maybe we can workaround it.

I think it doesn't fit into wasteland at all.
You want revenge? There are plenty of ways already:
1. find and kill
2. steal his items in ncr
3. rob his tent
4. kill his expensive mercs

I want to see a duelist with minigun/lsw/rocketlauncher who will kill not only opponent but also accidentaly few bluesuiters behind.
Also I sometimes dueling with tent-robbers, and they're all honest people who don't shoot you in point blank, but first of all we taking a range between us, and then in RT of couse, starting fight. Of couse we returning items to each other, sometimes. So you can just go outside NCR in wastes and do your duel. ;p

Nope, doesn't really need to be hardcoded when players can already arrange it themselves as indicated to be frank.

Even so if people want to duel why don't they just use the arena's I mean isn't that the point of them for hth'ers anyways, although adding a arena where armor/weapons are allowed would be a sufficent work around though.

It`s just meant: You have a problem with player A - you are player B - lets take it on in a good, fair fight, a duel. No guards involved, no other players involved.
High Noon, motherfucker!
Much as "high noon". I always imagined Fallout to be a bit inspired by old western movies etc.
It could just bring a bit of exitmen to towns etc..

I'm very fond of this idea, too. That will add some reason in the senseless, merciless PvP.

Duels could be encouraged by XP the participant gain by killing his enemy.
To prevent abuse, like teammates killing themselves for XP, there will be a cooldown for each duellant, in which he can't accept or start a duel.

Also, the XP should be based on level difference. A noob will get more experience for killing a seasoned fighter, than reverse slaughter.

I'm a rich trader and some dude with CA and minigun has a problem that I have the moneys he doesn't have. Him having twice the hps, aps and 10x the damage output doesn't sound very fair.

So what if a 255 HP tank looses duel to his lvl 1 friend? Exploitable...

and who can do that with his char :

nah if people want to duel they can, i dont think anything else is needed in here :>

and this for xp in pvp

So what if a 255 HP tank looses duel to his lvl 1 friend? Exploitable...

hell jeah. every xp for pvp without any gm monitoring is exploitable. logical!

.
.
.

thats the point.

this duel idea is more for guys who shot themselves anyway.
thinking of modoc and the den and new reno for example.
so please dont move this "fair pvp idea" into our sweet towns in the south.

i found my duells in random encounters these days.
not hard to find one of these sweet bluesuit pkillers without his babysitters.

we should enable this button for random encounters hahaa. i know, its utopic.

maybe then we dont see so many lvl 1-5 players on bloody ground because some lvl21 guy wonna duel.
you have see fair pvp last time in random encounters?
equivalent chars who fight against each other?
i allways see 1-4 high armed guys who kill everything, preferentially bluesuits.

ps. hub fighting area was a nice idea. but more than that i don´t need in guarded towns

and "....instead of random killing" is allways a good suggestion.

I like it, it keeps people from getting dragged to the other player's tent and getting butt-raped by mercs or other players because he decided to scam him out of the duel and take his shit.

I think that its good idea. Beacuse If you want find someone, its pretty hard. He can be in guarded city and "game over", you cant nothing there. Its good for those who are not pure PvPers in unguarded cities and they want some PvP.
