We should hear more than we see
FOV should be working only with sight

Ok, we will still don't know who will tell sth (if we don't see him) but we will know what he told

Yes, I'm tired of having to shout when I'm just around the corner from someone.

I was thinking about something like this yesterday. Even if you can't see who's saying it, you still know the general direction it came from. I don't know how to implement it, but it just makes sense.

Maybe one side of the hex facing the direction of the noise could flash green?

Agreed. People don't even realise where the shooting comes from. And then, they dies.
