Taming wild dogs
« on: February 02, 2010, 02:37:41 am »

I would really like to be able to tame a wild dog just like a brahmin, maybe with an outdoosmen check (since understandably a dog might be harder to tame than a cow).

I remembered when i first started and i was dreaming about getting rope and trying to see what animals i could catch... and then being disappointed finding out that only brahmin could be caught.

Let us rope DOGS!!....and maybe other animals could be tamed too?? given higher checks for the more "wild" ones.

You could sell some molerats in Redding, Radscorpions for the doc in Broken Hills, dogs in trapper town Klamath etc
also, you could have your very own dog <3

you'd have to get special Vault 13 experiment notes to do that

and you know.. animals like centaurs have already been proven that they can be tamed... just look every time you run into remnants of the Masters Army.

We can start with dogs and see if there are any bugs. Then proceed to bigger critters.

The mechanism is already in (slaves and cows) so there should not be much work with implementing this feature.

definatelly +1.

See, this isn't even the first post about it! I'm glad other people see that it would be a very useful addition.

for taming dogs may be using meat on them or some dog-food (and a check based on outsdoor or INT).
the rope it would be for trapping animals for selling (like Nyan suggest)

and for beast lord, maybe a trait:
you can have +2 followers, but you can't have human followers.
(and may be this trait will allow you to tame more wild animals?)

But how do you tame a instantly attacking, very fast agressive critter from a pack?

Throwing a rope around its neck, pulling it tight and setting your boot on its head making it face the ground.
It will come around eventually. :D

I mean game-technically.

Of course i could wipe the half of the pack out and knock the rest of them down, using rope on them, like in enslaving.

Everyone deserves a puppy... or a shakal with rabies. It could be charisma and outdoors related, dogs tend to befriend gentle people.
