Combat messages like in Fallout: Tactics
« on: March 12, 2012, 07:18:15 pm »

In FOnline, just like in the original Fallout games, combat messages are something like:

  • You were hit for X hit points.
  • Brotherhood Paladin was hit for X hit points.

While in Fallout: Tactics, they give more "details" such as:

  • Warrior hit Raider for X hit points.

Although I came up with this suggestion after I found the limitations of the current combat message system while playing with the amboy tactical tool , I think using the system from Fallout: Tactics (if possible?) would make it easier to understand what's going on during a fight, and even after the fight, because players usually save and read their logs, even show it to other players to give examples of situations, or to prove something which is being discussed about in a trollthread ;)

aye, this would be interesting.  It would also give people more factual info for fights.

It would also be extensively used by trololololers, I believe.  But so is everything else :D.

But one of the perks of sniping someone is them not knowing who and where it came from... So possibly have the name of who shot who if you can see them, but if the shooter is out of sight, it should be kept hidden

I don't like it, would detract from the confusion during the battle. Would be pretty cool if it wasn't immediately available though, like if saving the log used the F:T format and the message box used the old F1/F2 messages.

That'd make it usable for cheaters (either pull it from memory or from file if it's stream). But I think it'd be fair enough to allow player check damage he's done somehow.

I don't know shit but those ideas you suggested don't sounds easy or even possible to code :/

After reading this I think it wouldn't be such a good idea, but anyway I will this thread in case any dev is interested somehow.
